The PGA Tour heads north of the U.S. border this week for the 2024 RBC Canadian Open, and we’re picking the defending champion and national hero as our long shot to win. Here’s our long-shot pick, the RBC Canadian Open odds, betting favorites and everything else you need to know.
RBC Canadian Open odds: Long-shot bet
Our long-shot pick to win this week, Canada’s own Nick Taylor, carries an odd title you don’t often see with PGA Tour long shots: defending champion.
Taylor inspired people across Canada as he topped Tommy Fleetwood in a playoff to win last year’s Canadian Open, the first Canadian pro to do so since 1954. We even picked Taylor as our-long shot to win that week in this very column.
Strangely, as we head into the 2024 event, Taylor is still an underdog, starting the week with +6000 odds-to-win. It’s even stranger given that he added another big victory at February’s WM Phoenix Open.
That’s good enough for us to give Taylor the long-shot nod yet again, even though the course will be different than last year.
If you entrust $10 on Taylor to win and he pulls off the repeat, you’ll earn $600. For insurance, consider placing additional small bets on Taylor to finish top 10 and top 20.
Looking for more long-shot bets for the RBC Canadian Open? This week’s honorable mentions are Doug Ghim (+8000) and Davis Riley (+9000).
RBC Canadian Open odds: The favorites
World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is back in action this week, while Scottie Scheffler is taking this one off, which means McIlroy is easily the betting favorite with +375 odds-to-win.
Last year’s runner-up, Tommy Fleetwood, comes in second at +1600, while Sahith Theegala sits right behind him at +2000 odds-to-win to start the week.
